The Clarion Fund is an American-Israeli institution which makes controversial movies to promote Iranophobia and Islamophobia in the United States, especially in universities.
The American daily The Huffington Post writes on its website that the Clarion Fund is an organization affiliated with right-wing Israeli and American parties which makes and distributes contentious documentaries about the so-called threat posed by Islam.
It was founded by conservative Israeli Rabbi Raphael Shore in 2006.
The Clarion Fund's Advisory Board includes some neo-conservatives and hawkish politicians such as Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., a former US defense secretary and the founder and president of the Center for Security Policy; Daniel Pipes, the director of the Middle East Forum; M. Zuhdi Jasser, the founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD); Clare M. Lopez, a former CIA agent and senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy; Harold Rhode, a former foreign affairs specialist at the Pentagon; Ilan Sharon, the executive director of the Minnesotans Against Terrorism, and Sarah Stern, the founder and president of the Endowment for Middle East Truth.
They, along with other board members, all contribute to production and distribution of the Clarion Fund's anti-Islam movies.
The Clarion Fund drew extensive media attention for releasing the documentaries Obsession: Radical Islam's War against the West, and The Third Jihad: Radical Islam's Vision for America.
Some analysts describe Clarion as a tool for the Israeli far-right Likud Party.
Reports suggest the Israeli group Aish Ha Torah sponsored the production, marketing and distribution of the documentary Obsession: Radical Islam's War against the West.
The Clarion Fund has also been directly involved in political campaigns.
