Jack Shaw: The Accused Consultant Found Dead
July 29th, 2009 - 6:11 pm ICT by GD
Jack M Shaw, a veteran New Jersey political consultant who was recently busted during the huge corruption sweep last week, was reportedly found dead in his Jersey City apartment on Tuesday, the same day that one of the three mayors charged in the case had resigned.
The circumstances surrounding the death of Mr.Shaw are “suspicious”, said Edward DeFazio, the Hudson county prosecutor. He also said that the death did not apparently seemed to be a homicide. “It could be natural, it could be accidental, it could be suicide,” said Mr.DeFazio, resenting to comment more on the issue revolving around the mysterious death of Shaw. According to the inside sources, an autopsy is supposed to be carried out on Wednesday.
Shaw’s death which was reported by a companion to the authorities at 5.17 p.m., came hours after Dennis Elwell, the mayor of Secaucus stepped down from his post after being charged in the sprawling political corruption case.
61 year old Shaw was once a consultant of some quite influential Democrats, more recently worked mainly for developers doing business in Hudson County. One of the top clients of Shaw was Metrovest Equities, the developer of the Beacon, a 10 storeyed building apartment complex on the site of the former Jersey City Medical Center. Shaw was charged last week for allegedly accepting $10,000 cash from Solomon Dwek, the federal informant at the center of the corruption scandal who was posing as a real estate developer looking for political help in order to pass his projects.
The death of Mr.Shaw has drawn in many speculations although the Hudson County prosecutor Mr.DeFazio has dismissed any possibilities of homicide. Recent developments suggests that only after the autopsy report, the investigators can actually come up with a detailed report regarding Mr.Shaw’s demise.
